Take a look again at the above quote.
That comment is from Rose Marie Belforti in Citizen Link (an off shoot of Focus on the Family) Magazine. Rose Marie, town clerk in Ledyard, NY was interviewed after she refused to sign marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples after the New York State law went into effect on the 24th July 2011. She claimed as a Christian she could not compromise her beliefs.
Really, Rose Marie??? An a secret agenda to usher in the ability to marry an animal?!?!?!?!!?!?
This blog post is not about marriage equality though, this post is about how some Christians in their attempt to uphold what they see as a Biblical condemnation have taken to using misinformation, lies, and fear mongering to try to get their point across.
Tony Perkins is another Christian who, in order to raise funds for his organization, decided to bash and malign the “It Gets Better” campaign (a video series that helps combat bullying), by telling his supporters that it is a tool of the LGBT community to recruit kids into the gay lifestyle. You can read it below.
There are many comments that seek to create fear and hatred for the LGBT community, Here are a few more examples.
“Rick Perry’s fellow Texas Republicans voted on a 2010 party platform full of hate and malicious falsehoods about LGBT Americans, saying: “We believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases…Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable, alternative lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should family be redefined to include homosexual couples.””
Or Michele Bachmann linking the LGBT community to pedophilia in 2009.
“Rep. Michele Bachmann spoke out against federal hate crimes bill being considered on the U.S. House floor on Wednesday by conflating gays and lesbians with pedophiles, and saying that the bill would protect pedophiles from hate crimes.
“[A]pparently people who are practicing pedophiles would be considered protected under this legislation, but not, I understand, veterans, not, I understand, pregnant women, not, I understand, 85-year-old grandmothers would be protected under this law,” she said. “But who would be protected? A pedophile, someone who considers themselves gay, someone who considers themselves transgender, someone who considers themselves a cross-dresser? That is who is protected.”
The bill, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, adds “sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of any person” to existing federal law which currently includes race, color, religion, or national origin. Minnesota Reps. Betty McCollum and James Oberstar are co-sponsors.
Contrary to Bachmann’s statement, pedophilia is not considered a sexual orientation, a disability or a gender identity, and is instead a criminal act.”
The above comments are all fodder for some Christians fight against the “Gay Agenda”. This agenda apparently involves animals, kids, and the tearing apart of a civilized Christian country. In the minds of these people the “Gay Agenda” is ultimate control over every aspect of American Life and the destruction of the Church, turning the good ‘ol USA into a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.
In all the ranting and railing against the LGBT community the aspect of the Christian faith that has been lost is love, unconditional, embracing, accepting love. The same love God has for us in Jesus.
If there is a Gay Agenda it is this…that individuals in the LGBT community want to be accepted, and treated as equals.
The church, among all other organizations, should be at the forefront in promoting this agenda.
Musings of a "not so good" Christian 
hmmm, so Bachman didn’t back a hate crimes bill because it would protect pedophiles…….Does anyone else find not only her jump from gays to pedophilia unnerving but also her decision that there are people who should not be protected from hate crimes completely horrifying? Honestly, pedophelia is horrendous. I am mortified by the crimes against children. Yet, I cannot say that it should be ok for someone to commit a crime or a hate crime against a pedophile.
This stuff makes me so upset I don’t know where to start. Yet another whopper of a gem from Michelle Bachman, who wouldn’t know her butt from a hole in the ground if someone showed her. It is insane to me that people like her have attained any kind of position of influence or power successfully. When I was watching the documentary Fagbug, (a MUST WATCH BY THE WAY), I was stunned by all of the places that the heroine visited that had NO LAWS AGAINST HATE CRIMES!!!! I asked myself for days aferwards, how can it be possible that there are such places? Now I know. The fact that any one of the examples cited here consider themselves to be Christian is preposterous! Jesus told us to love each other. POINT BLANK! I don’t think any one of these people even knows what love is! I am sick and tired of living in a world that is so infested with hate and intolerance. The only cure for any of this is a hard core dose of RADICAL GRACE. Being gay is not a choice. Having been born in the wrong body is not a choice. When we see how the haters in this world behave – that there are people who feel entitled to HARM OTHERS because of their sexual orientation, who on earth would MAKE THAT CHOICE??? Being a pedophile is a CRIME. Being gay is someone being THE WAY GOD MADE THEM!!!!! If we listen to God, She commands us to aspire to love without judgement. None of us are perfect. None of us has any right to cast dispersions on anyone else. I cringed the other day when I heard Michelle Bachman say that she had five kids of her own and had raised 42 foster children….I pray for all of them…..
Yes, people are born sinners. Just like David was as he talks about in Psalm 51:5. And we all vary to some degree over which sins we’re most attracted to. However, God did not “make us that way” we are each responsible for our sin be it the sin of fornication, adultery, homosexuality, drunkenness, gossip, slander, etc. I definitely have my share that I struggle with. Love is not mere acceptance of these sins under the guise of “God made me that way” as that will only lead to a more intense hatred of God as we come to recognize God’s hatred of the sins we love so much. Acceptance, tolerance and dismissing sin with a wink and a pat on the back is the “love” that the world offers not the love that Christ offers. Jesus command us to repent of our sin not continue living in it. He hates sin as do those that our His. That’s not to say we don’t fall very often but, we HATE it when we do! Christ’s love is SO much greater than tolerance or acceptance of sin. His love offers us FREEDOM from sin! Let’s be reminded that God sent His son to free us from sin not encourage us to remain enslaved to sin or to blame Him for our sins and their consequences. God is good.

People are born as they are, whatever gender, and they are no less Christian because they were born different from the “norm”.
Jesus love us all, regardless of what gender we may be.
Loving others is so more important than making anyone feel small or unaccepted in our Society .
It is the love that is in our hearts and sharing God’s love with others that matters most of all.
